Therapeutic properties. Camphor stimulates CNS, increases breathing, heart function, normalizes blood circulation. The drug is irritating, distracting and mestnoanesteziruushim action.
Indications for use. Camphor used in acute and chronic heart failure, hypotension, a sudden drop in blood pressure, for the prevention and treatment of circulatory disorders, infectious diseases, pneumonia, purulent pleurisy, disorders of respiration and cardiac activity. Camphor oil and alcohol solution in the form of rubbing is used to treat arthritis, rheumatism, muscular pains as distracting and local anti-inflammatory agent. Camphor and alcohol is also used topically for the prevention of pressure ulcers in bedridden patients.
